On November 6th, 7th, and 8th, Apartool joined the International Summit Travel & Event Management, organized by the Spanish Association of Corporate Travel Managers (AEGVE).

For three days, Genoa became the international hub of corporate travel. The Summit, organized by AEGVE, brought together industry experts to discuss the changes the sector is experiencing: from digitalization to sustainability, including risk management and the evolving role of the Travel Manager.

The goal was to propose real solutions, promote continuous improvement, and consolidate a more efficient ecosystem for future challenges. The event was structured with conferences, roundtables, and networking sessions that facilitated the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Trends, technology, and artificial intelligence

The Summit addressed a wide range of topics, mainly grouped around three key themes: technology, the evolution of the travel manager's role, and the traveler experience. These focus areas help identify where the industry is heading and which tools are most effective for adapting to change.

Among the presentations that set the trend were:

"AI in Action: Transforming the Business Travel Experience": A presentation focused on the practical application of smart tools to optimize itineraries, bookings, and traveler tracking.
"Gen Alpha vs. Corporate Travel: Hard Mode Activated": A reflection on how the industry will adapt to the new profile of employees entering the corporate world in the next decade.
"Discovering the Value of a Travel Program": A comprehensive framework for optimizing travel programs through the strategic use of data.

These sessions demonstrated that technology is not only a tool for efficiency but also for creating personalized and more human experiences.

"People serving people": Apartool's model in action

One of the most anticipated moments of the event was the session "People Serving People: The Value of Service," presented by Conchi Jerez (KAM at Apartool) and Judit Navalón (Travel Manager at Eurofragance). In this session, the real impact of a corporate accommodation service that places travelers at the center was showcased.

A bit of context

Apartool and Eurofragance's travel agency work together to provide accommodation for their employees on medium- and long-term assignments in destinations such as Dubai, Singapore, Mexico City, and Cannes.

The AEGVE discussion highlighted the essential role of Travel Managers in balancing logistical efficiency with employee well-being, including access to services like gyms and support for mental health and well-being.

A specific incident in Dubai illustrated the complexities of cultural differences in service expectations. A Eurofragance employee faced difficulties accessing the building's common areas due to issues with her access card, disrupting her routine and affecting the quality of her experience.

Apartool's swift response demonstrated its commitment to customer service:

Negotiation with the local provider.
Delivery of a formal apology.
Financial compensation.

The session emphasized the strategic collaboration between Eurofragance, its travel agency, and Apartool as essential for addressing challenges and maintaining smooth operations. The speakers also pointed out the importance of employee retention through care, noting that positive travel experiences contribute to talent management in specialized industries such as perfumery.

The 2025 edition of the Business Travel Monitor revealed key insights into the evolution of the sector. This report provides an updated snapshot of the priorities, concerns, and expectations of companies regarding their corporate travel.

Among the main findings of the report, it was highlighted that companies expect to increase their investment in corporate travel by 6.5% compared to the previous year.

Regarding the needs that guide decision-making in travel management, the report highlights the following:

Time and resource savings.
Traveler safety and well-being.
Efficient management and negotiation capacity with providers.

These aspects are now prioritized over others, such as expense control or strict adherence to travel policies, reflecting a shift toward more flexible models focused on the experience.

On the other hand, the challenges identified for the near future are, in this order:

Rising costs (45.3%).
Sustainability and responsibility (36.2%).
Traveler safety and well-being (35.2%).
Geopolitical uncertainty (33.5%).
Technological adaptation (32.3%).
New corporate policies (28.9%).
Personalization of travel (20.2%).
